Mission Statement
The Tri-County School Corporation is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our community. Indiana Online is a non-traditional educational program designed to meet the academic needs of students with a desire to graduate from Tri-County High School, but who have individual circumstances that require a flexible education setting. Our staff is driven to prepare our students for post-graduation success. We strive to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to develop the educational and social skills required to attain our students’ goals.

The Tri-County School Corporation understands that not everyone learns best inside the walls of a traditional school setting, and that life sometimes prevents people from finishing high school in a traditional setting. We have partnered with Indiana Online to meet the needs of people within our community and around the state by using a distance education model.

Why did the Tri-County School Corporation partner with Indiana Online?
Tri-County is committed to helping community members achieve their goals and desires. We believe that all students can learn and deserve the opportunity to learn in an educational environment that meets their needs. Traditional school provides a challenge for some students, thus, Tri-County created this opportunity for students who can thrive in a non-traditional setting.
Who can attend Indiana Online at Tri-County School Corporation?
For students in grades 9–12 who are not currently finding success in a traditional public-school setting, Indiana Online offers a valuable alternative. This program provides an opportunity for students whose parents may be seeking a different educational path to earn a diploma and graduate alongside their peers.
How do I know if Indiana Online is for me?
Students who are successful in our online platform will have the following characteristics:
- Average to above average readers — Students who can read and understand at a seventh grade level or higher. The program has a built-in screen reader for those who need it.
- Self-Motivated and Self-Disciplined — Students set aside time each day to complete work on schedule and work ahead whenever possible.
- Future Focused — Students focused on where they want to be in the future; the diploma is a step toward a job, promotion, military, or college.
Other Program Details
- Teachers: Indiana Online teachers are licensed by the Indiana Department of Education. Program design depends on the student’s needs.
- How to Apply: Application forms are available online or at Tri-County Jr/Sr. High School. After receipt, the admission team reviews and schedules an intake meeting.
- Review Criteria: Prior academic performance, personal/family challenges, attendance, discipline, and motivation are all considered.
- After Acceptance: Students are assigned a mentor teacher through Indiana Online to create an Individualized Action Plan (IAP).
- Schedule: Flexible coursework completed synchronously or asynchronously.
- Cost: Attending Indiana Online is free.
- Classes Offered: Wide variety of courses meeting all Indiana diploma requirements, including Technical Honors, Advanced Placement, and IEP support.
- Class Load: Tailored to the individual student.
- Attendance: Minimum five days per week, totaling at least 30 hours weekly. Students who do not meet expectations or progress sufficiently may be removed.
- Internet Access: Required — Indiana Online is not viable without it.
- Commencement: Students who complete all required coursework may walk with their graduation cohort.
Participation Guidelines for Full-Time Indiana Online Students
CTE (Career and Technical Education) Classes
- Full-time Indiana Online students may enroll in CTE courses offered by Tri-County High School if space is available. In-person attendance required; school handbook applies.
Co-Curricular Activities
- Indiana Online students who fulfill all requirements may participate in co-curricular activities (e.g., FFA, BPA).
Other School Activities and Events (2025-2026 school year)
Full-time Indiana Online students are NOT eligible to participate in:
- Athletics
- School-sponsored clubs
Enrollment Timing
Any student seeking to enroll after the first two weeks of the Tri-County academic semester must obtain approval from the administrative team.
Working Students
Students who work a part-time or full-time job for a minimum of 15 hours a week are only expected to spend 15 hours a week on their coursework.
Summer Classes
Available — Tri-County uses Indiana Online to provide summer online courses.
Tri-County Online Learning Agreement (Student Acknowledgements)
The purpose of this agreement is to acknowledge acceptance of the identified roles and responsibilities for students and parents who request to enroll in Indiana Online at Tri-County School Corporation.
Student commitments include:
- Completed Individual Action Plan with identified courses each semester
- Maintain a study schedule of 5 out of 7 days, minimum 30 hours per week
- Two consecutive weeks of failure may result in removal
- Ten consecutive days without logging in requires an administrative meeting
- Initiate communication with teacher/mentor at least once per week
- Provide updated contact information at all times
- Complete a minimum of six online courses per semester
- Complete semester exams unless otherwise arranged
- Take Standardized Tests (ISTEP+, ILEARN, SAT, PSAT, WIDA, ASVAB) at Tri-County as required
- Understand that failure to meet academic progress may result in removal
Parent/Guardian commitments include:
- Ensuring computer/Internet access (or requesting school-provided access)
- Providing transportation for standardized testing
- Maintaining updated contact information
- Understanding the academic progress requirements
